Peptide Reconstitution Protocol

Standard laboratory guidelines for diluting lyophilized research peptides. For research use only.

Required Materials

  • Bacteriostatic Water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) — use BA3 or BA10 from our Supplies page

  • 1mL insulin syringe (for dosing)

  • 1–3mL syringe with larger needle (18–21G) for mixing

  • Alcohol wipes

  • Peptide vial

Step-by-Step Reconstitution

1

Sanitize

Wipe rubber stoppers of both peptide vial and bacteriostatic water vial with alcohol wipe. Allow to dry.

2

Draw Air

Pull syringe plunger to the volume of bacteriostatic water you plan to inject (typically 1–2mL). Insert needle into water vial, inject air.

3

Draw Water

Invert water vial, draw desired amount of bacteriostatic water into syringe.

4

Inject

Insert needle into peptide vial at an angle, slowly inject water down the side of the glass — not directly onto the powder.

5

Dissolve

Gently swirl vial. Do not shake. Let sit until solution is completely clear.

6

Store

Refrigerate at 2–8°C. Use within 28 days. Label vial with date of reconstitution.

Dosage Calculation Example

Vial:5mg peptide
Add:2mL bacteriostatic water
Concentration:5mg / 2mL = 2.5mg per mL
For 500mcg dose:0.2mL (20 units on insulin syringe)

Important Warnings

  • !For laboratory research use only. Not for human consumption.
  • !Use sterile technique throughout.
  • !Discard if solution appears cloudy or contains precipitate.
  • !Do not reuse syringes or needles.
